No, rest assured, we won't even cause 1 trillionth the damage of a metal sulfide mine up their in the Great White North, or down here in the states.

The native frogs don't seem to be needing any help. The African clawed toad, OTOH, is running amok in some parts of the state introduced from people who got them as pets. The aquatic snail (from people dumping out aquariums) is now illegal to sell, even though you can go down to most running creeks and find them freely roaming the native stream habitat.

Tumbleweeds, the iconic plant of the West, are actually Russian Thistle, a weed. Pampas Grass, pretty in the yard, is creeping into the coastal chaparral. The yellow mustard that is emblematic of the California Coastal Range in spring was introduced by the Spaniards to help them find their way back up the coast after the initial exploration. Unfortunately, it does so well that it is the dominant plant on most hills. The native grasses were made extinct by the intentional introduction of "hay" species and overgrazing by cattle in the late 1800's and early 1900's wiped out most of the native grasses.

Don't even get me started about the use of amalgam processes in the Sierra and wanton hydraulic mining of secondary placer deposits along the pre-historic Mokelumne River. I think the state is pretty safe getting some California Poppy and Valley Oak acorns deposited along the right of ways of various railroads and highway tracts. Sleep well.
