I bet Peter King is as high up in American government as Adams will get on this trip. He is obviously Irish Catholic (even though he seems to be a Republican). When I told Mr. Grainne that not even Kennedy would see him he thought it was quite significant.

Irish novelist nominated for fiction award

An Irish novelist has been nominated for this year's prestigious Orange Prize for Fiction.

Catherine Dwyer Hickey has been nominated for her fourth novel Tatty, the story of a child growing up in a disintegrating, alcoholic family in Dublin.

The book is among 20 included in the long-list for the 2005 Orange Prize, which is limited to female writers.
