No, I beg to differ. There are many faces of China. This guy's comment reminds me of the story of several blind people guessing what is the shape of an elephant. One said it is like a pillar, one said it is like a snake, one said it is like a wall, one said it is like a rope, and yet one said it is like a fan... Each was describing only one part of the elephant’s body.

The bottom line is that there are millions of Chinese living in each kind of condition. Those he saw are not the worst, at least they have running water to use outside the building. There are millions of farmers still use water from the well. On the other hand, there are also millions of Chinese in big cities live exactly like the well-to-do people in the West. They have their own high-end apartments, not unlike those high-end apartments in Manhattan. 3-people family have 2 decent cars...

And BTW, those who eager to marry out of China usually are less wealthy, and less well to do
