"Given the level of effort that was expended to take all of this equipment, I highly doubt that it was randomly "sold" to parties unknown. These "looters" had a purpose and most likely hid this specialized equipment for later use." Yep. I'm sure there would be plenty of demand in the region --- and perhaps other parts of the world --- for such stuff. Iran certainly comes to mind.
