No, it's not odd. They probably had EXCELLENT inside information about exactly what was where, and how valuable it was. (From the many people who worked at these facilities.)

I think you are overlooking something very important, Buddy. We keep referring to these people as "looters". Given the "EXCELLENT" inside information, I find it odd that no one seems to know who these "looters" are. Why is this investigation centered on what was taken? Don't you think it's equally important to find out who did the taking? Clearly this was not just a rag-tag bunch of thugs.

Money is ALWAYS a good choice for a motivational factor!

Normally I would agree; especially if the UN were involved. But I suspect money had nothing to do with this.

I think it's much more damaging to anyone who would be foolish enough to argue that the occupation plan they used wasn't botched seriously.

I think that was the point the author of this article was trying to make. However, I think it fell on deaf ears. This story has no legs. And I think the reason it died was because it refutes the "Bush lied" crowd.

PS: Gotta run, Buddy. Have a great day.

Its my understanding due to the weight that the explosives could not just be carried off by hand. One analsis showed that it was have required 36 tractor trailers to move the stuff. Not only that, if the insurgents got so many explosives from this site as alleged, why were weapons labs found where they manufacture their own explosives. Seems to me they wouldn't have a need to manufacturer...ever again if the looting claims were true.
