Who in the world would disregard his wife's wishes in a situation like this?

If a spouse makes it clear she would not want to live as a vegetable, and if after six years of doing absolutely everything you could she remained a vegetable, would you disregard her wishes and let her remain a vegetable indefinitely?

Who in the world would fight their wife's parents like that in a situation like this.

If I really believed that's what my loved one wanted, I'd fight anybody and everybody who tried to foil those wishes. And I'd hope for the courage to do the deed myself if need be rather than let him suffer further.

Of course, Terri's husband does seem to be a jerk and there's no reason to trust his intentions.
