We had a good idea of what it would cost to invade and pacify Iraq -- but anybody in the Administration who dared tell the truth was silenced. We had a good idea of what it would take in terms of military commitments -- but anybody in the military who pointed out that we needed either allies or vastly larger troop deployments was told to shut-up. No Nadine, you do not have a magic pen to erase what was known before the war. Nor do you have carte blanche to say we had no idea what a mess we were getting into. Baghdad is now the most dangerous city in the world -- congratulations.
