Karzai knew from day one he would discontinue breathing if he fucked with the drug warlords, whose only means of income is poppy production.

When I was a youngster I got to know a Vietnam combat vet named Joey Pulio who came back with a heroin addiction, took him ten years to get straight.

He was a great guy. He told me he never did see the enemy while he was there, he just kept his head down and fired in their general direction. Had no idea whether he ever actually shot someone.
