Well, the truth is on the east coast we have whats called the gulf stream, which here in Palm Beach county actually comes within a couple hundred yards of shore. When I was young they just ran big sewerage pipes out into the gulfstream and pumped the sewerage out. Thats long ago now though, we dont have any of that anymore, sewerage is treated now to such a level you can DRINK the outflow. UGH, I never have but I've seen employees do it to PROVE IT. When people talk of spills into the ocean, thats a very rare occurrence anymore and would only happen when the lift stations are knocked out due to a power outtage such as we had with those multiple hurricanes, but BELIEVE ME they repair those stations before the even THINK about fixing residential lines. jdn
