The comment about the US not being a democracy in the past was in response to the fact that in the past women couldn't vote, not in response to the fact that we vote in representatives not directly voted on issues. It implied we are a democracy now because most adults (and adults of either sex and any racial or religious background) can vote for representatives.

You and other people were talking about majority rule

We were talking about a number of things including majority rule. No one was proposing that whatever idea achieves 50.001% support all of the sudden get enacted. No one was calling for "direct" or "pure democracy".

I was talking about majority rule in the context of the normal political process in the US. People voting for representatives. I was calling for certain issues to be decided by representatives rather than by judges. In other words I was calling for representative democracy over non-democracy except in cases where the constitution is fairly clear on the issue.
