According to reports somewhere between 30 and 40 people were killed during their stay at Abu Ghraib. There is no excuse for that. Torture was rampant. People were swept up off the streets and incarcerated and tortured...and some were killed too.

These were needless, thoughtless deaths. We cannot allow that to happen. Torture has shown to be completely ineffective as an interrogation procedure. The more you hurt someone the more they try to tell you what you want to hear. If you think this is an effective tool in the fight against terror, you're wrong.

There has been far too much needless killing in this war in Iraq...that is clear. And the killing is not over yet.

I never said no good will come from these actions. I'm an optimist...and I believe that in the long run there is always opportunity for a positive outcome. My point is that we could have had a positive outcome in Iraq without the war, and a more stable situation today.

I do not see Iraq as part of a war on terror. Saddam was not part of 9-11. If bin Laden is the responsible person for 9-11...that should have been the focus of operations...period.
