Fine by me. (I've always said that we would eventually drill every commercially recoverable drop of oil on public lands one day or another... it's only a matter of price and time. Meanwhile, any yet-undrilled public properties are like 'money in the bank', the oil is safe and only waiting until prices are high enough.)

Too bad though that the cynical politicians in Washington TURNED DOWN Canada's offer of *FREE* right-of-way for an oil pipeline direct to the upper-midwest of the US (which is the only US region that the Department of Energy says suffers from consistent shortages of supply), in favor of one to the coast that will allow the oil firms to sell the oil to China or Japan --- thus doing much less for the goal of achieving US energy security.
