Say what you want about Howard Dean, but you wouldn't consider Howard Dean a step up from Terry McAuliffe?

I think McAuliffe was exceptionally sleezy. And Dean actually believes in "the cause", which is good. But what Dean gains in integrity he gives back in extremism. The Dems are going to have become more moderate before I think about voting for one again; and I think a lot of America feels the same way.

1/3 of the voters, maybe a little more, are Yellow Dogs who will always vote for the liberal candidate. But the Dems have managed to make the last two races close on the strength of lies and dirty tricks, with ample help from Bush's inadequate speaking ability. Bush has pulled it only because he more integrity than any candidate I've seen in my lifetime, and because behind the speaking difficulty there is a smart and committed individual (liberal attacks against his "intellect" notwidthstand).

And how about your leadership? Bill Frist? Uh, Tom DeLay, anyone?

I don't care for Delay and think he should go. And I like Frist okay, but I do believe he lacks a drop even of charisma. Ultimately, though, it is the candidate.

I'm disappointed in Rice's decision, because she is inarguably one of the most intelligent, articulate, and capable individuals to hold high office in the nation's history. I feel that there is a good chance she'll change her mind. The first time I heard her speak, in the late 90s, I knew she had what it takes. I would be a terrible waste of talent to have it running the NFL or whatever.
