It isn't single-handedly.

The party left the reasonable voters long ago, leaving it with Yellow Dogs and those who buy into lies and dirty tricks. It started in '92, and has gotten progressively worse.

It isn't JUST about 13-year olds having sex.

For example,

- Democrat obstructionism on important issues of the day like judicial appointments and Social security reform;

- Failure to lead on any significant issue;

- Use of "the race card" in political advertising (The Byrd Ad);

- Attack dog tactics (Daschle)

- Teddy Kennedy, John Kerry, Howard Dean, and Hillary (who is obviously moving to the center to get elected, after which she would be her some old extremist liberal self).

Until the party recognizes its extremist agenda is out of step with the American people, they're sunk. Unless they can get a Harold Ford or John Breaux Democrat (assuming we can't get Zell to run LOL), you guys are marginalized and will continue to be a mere afterthought by the strong leadership advantage the Republicans have.
