Junior gives me the impression that he cares more about the oil business than he does about the public. He doesn't give me the impression that he cares enough about the little man on any issue to take his side.

Concerning oil. I've read that it will take about 10 years for the first oil from Alaska to make it to a gas station. Also like others have said there is not that much oil there to begin with. The six month supply is what they predicted before exploring, now some companies are saying they aren't even interested in drilling in the area because there isn't as much oil as first thought.

The Alaska pipeline is pumping about as much oil as it can handle. How will the oil from this new venture get to market?

If junior cared about our dependence on foreign oil why hasn't he made the car companies make their vehicles get better gas mileage. This would help immediately (as soon as the vehicles were on the street) and reduce our dependence more than the drilling he is pushing so hard. He could also make more lucrative incentives for people to purchase vehicles which get better gas mileage. I wouldn't be against an added on tax on gas guzzlers too.

In other words if junior really cared about our oil usage why isn't he doing things to help with the problem other than things like this which allow oil companies make more money?
