"The blue/red state thing, imho, has gotten out of hand."

No kidding. Assuming that environmental awareness is only a blue state thing is a perfect example. A lot of red staters are hunters and fishermen, and I've heard many lament how the hunting and/or fishing isn't as good as it was. And they know exactly why it isn't...

re: I am getting to the point where I don't care. The Democrats are some how supposed to cater to southerners who think nothing of drilling the ANWR. I have no intention of going backwards. I say screw it and go our separate ways.

The blue/red state thing, imho, has gotten out of hand. It's artificial.

It is but isn't. Its more a state of mind but it follows certain regional breakdowns as well. However, I shouldn't have said southerners. After all, there are people from eastern WA who are red voters.

With the right candidate, FL would go dem, without a doubt.

Yes, but FLA is one of the few southern states where that might happen.

State borders are not the issue, people are the issue. The dems somehow lost the workers, they have gone rep. Inexplicably, 'cause Bush is screwing them at every turn.

The dems have to learn to communicate like Rove & Co. Dean is OK, a southerner would be better.

I think its more complicated than that. Rove and company have managed to do two things..........cloud the issues so that many people don't know the difference between fact and fiction. He understands the basic premise that Americans are politically lazy......he feeds them pablum so it goes down easily. The pablum half hints at the truth but not the whole truth.

And he has neutralized the opposition so that they can't mount an effective counter campaign. They have turned the message and the goals of progressives into something bad. Liberals can't seem to get any traction. And now the right is broadcasting loud and clear that liberals need to forget their prior goals and become more like the right. The hope is that the lines will blur and there will be no difference........that the majority of the people will become content and never object.

And its working.........Americans are serving up the country to them......hook, line and sinker.

Therein lies my frustration........and so I convert that frustration to a blue/red state dichotomy. There is some truth to that dichotomy but its also more complicated than that. Unfortunately, we're left with hoping that the right person will come along to make FLA go blue. That's not good......not good at all.
