HeHe, I have no problem with a "well regulated" but "unarmed" militia. Perhaps thats what the spokesman had in mind? I suppose the Moose Lodge & Rotary Club are examples of this.

NRA types never did much hold with the existence of the " well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State" clause

They recognize its existence, but they also note that it doesn't itself outlaw or mandate anything, and it doesn't, as a matter of English grammar, or by any reasonable view of original intent, place any limitations on the 2nd clause.
