Interest rates go up.

The only true threats to our national economy's viability are failed social programs, particularly SS, Medicare and state Medicaid programs. Our national debt is nothing compared to our national asset base.

If we can get SS shored up then we can start thinking about these other programs.

They aren't buying $400 billion plus of treasuries to cover the deficit.

When they refuse to buy whatever level they are buying then interest rates go up.
