Can't say it is a factor, but...

The crude in ANWR is a heavy crude. Now most refineries in the US use light crude, which is at a premium. Japan, in particular, has many heavy crude refineries. Now if there is even more heavy crude on the market than there is now, it will be priced lower than it might be otherwise.

Did I mention that Hawaii is pretty dependent on trade with Japan?

Speaking of ANWR, did you notice how close that vote was? 51-49... The Dems got all the Republicans they needed to cross the line... if the two liberal Democrat Senators from HAWAII had voted against it, if wouldn't have passed... why the hell would they, in particular, have voted for it? What was in it for them?

WTF! The damn Hawaiians..........who knows.....a bridge between Oahu and the big island? You would think they would be some of the most sensitive to the environment. It makes me sick. Below is the actual breakdown by vote.
