Ok, you're going for trout. A 2 pound trout is probably easier to haul in than a 200 pound sturgeon.

I remember one time of using downriggers in Canada for lakers. One of the guests had a fancy new boat and downriggers and the camp owner was going with him to Nester Falls. I asked if I could follow them around as I didn't know that area. They said no so I took my wife to Clearwater Bay and worked an 80' deep bar there.

When we got back to camp they were showing off their 14" laker which looked puny to my 12, 15 and 20 pounders. The camp owner got mad as hell over that. If we could have followed him I could have told him that they were using their line releases wrong.
