Much lower minimums.

I use USPIX to be short the NDX leveraged at 2 times the movement of the NDX. On a percentage basis.

You can buy the Profunds, Rydex Funds, and Potomac Funds (all offer shorts of this and that, with as much as 2 times leverage) through most brokers, and they don't require anything like that kind of minimum. I think most will do $2000.

You don't have to open an account with Rydex or Profunds. Be careful, though... some brokers will charge you a "frequent trader" penalty for flipping in and out of these. Most have realized they are intended for this very purpose mostly, and will not charge any penalty. But a few brokers still do that.
