Chinese are being victimized. Majority of the pollution are caused by producing for the developed countries . I read that there are >20 big paper mills along Yangzi River and all of them are Foreign owned or JVs, not only they have cut all of the old trees (see the picture below) including most of the rain forest in Yunnan province, they also pollute one of the only two the Mother of all rivers in China badly. And most of the toilet paper sold in the US now also produced in China. Whoever wants to blame China for pollution problem in the world should think twice next time when they go to restroom<vbg>. Yes, it is unfortunate that China has few environmental rules and all the multinational companies are taking advantage of that. But it would be hypocritical to blame China while consuming the product which caused those pollution in the first place. Furthermore, the so-called safe standard in the US is not necessarily really safe. And people living in the metropolitan areas of the US have much better chance to intake high level of mercury without realizing it, especially those who love Sushi Bar. One more thing about those statistics on how many Chinese having autism, my advise is that don't take it so seriously. They are highly hypothetical. The real number can be higher, but also can be much lower, no one knows. Those number are coming from some special interest groups, and it is highly inflated, just like the GDP number in China which is usually highly inflated too (the published GDP number by the Chinese central gov. have been weighted down anywhere bet. 30-40% of the total from all the local gov.).
