That exchange just really drives home the whole problem with this naked shorting "debate". The side that claims that this is a huge problem that requires massive investigation and drastic action, effectively insists that you accept the premises upon which their questions are based, or else stand accused of avoiding the issue, being dishonest, or worse. They don't want to deal with the "is this a problem?" question, they want to jump straight to "this is a problem, so what are we going to do about it?"

That's certainly not my idea of the recipe for a healthy discussion.

Bob O'Brien asks a question and Jim Brownfield gives a speech that has no relationship to the question or the issue. These hedge fund and MM defenders sure don't like having this issue in the public eye.
