The article discussed the initial planning for privatization of State-owned Iraqi oil production, and why it was ultimately rejected (opposition from oil industry executives, opposition from elements in interim government, perception that such an act would be portrayed as 'stealing' Iraq's oil and would boost the insurgency, etc.)

With so many officials on the record about this, it hardly makes sense for you to stick your head in the sand, hum 'Nyah-nyah-nyah' to yourself, and pretend it didn't happen.

No one is denying these events, not the Iraqis, not oil industry, and not the US.
