Again, you failed to factor in the kicker, namely, Israel. Of course, if it were only about the US, nobody would give a damn about Iran's nuclear shenanigans.... Even if Iran announced today that she already owns a nuclear head, it'd still take her another ten years to develop the ICBM technology to deliver it across oceans, 5,000 miles away.... Even Europe doesn't feel threatened by Iran: why would the latter nuke her key technological supplier and outlet for her oil and gas? There's only one country in the world that feels threatened by Iran: Israel. But then again, it's not a "MAD threat" --ie Mutually Assured Destruction. It's not a matter for Iran to annihilate Israel for the Palestinians' sake --most of them would be "nuked away" in the process, btw. No, what's insufferable for Israel is the prospect of a rival hegemon in the Mideast. The prospect of Israel having to humor Iran because of the latter's nuclear stick.... Hence the Iranian crisis' timing is set by Israel, not by Washington, and Prez Bush knows it. And Sharon knows that, should he and his staff deem it timely, he can start the war against Iran any time... For no US President will dare fail Israel. No US President will leave Israel in the lurch. The White House's unspoken motto is, Israel, right or wrong. Israel, especially with Likudniks in charge, won't hesitate to rock the boat and take on Iran before the so-called window of opportunity shuts down. At that time, Bush had better follow suit or else... Gus
