FYI, in China, Chinese Medical Association and Chinese Traditional Medical Association are at the same academic level. It is nothing but ignorance to call TCM as hand-healers and shamans. Enough said, don't even bother to reply!!

<that is because they practice actual medical science. just as in the US, the American Medical Association does not include hand-healers and shamans.>

LOL!! "Actual Medical Science"? I think you mean, they attempt to employ the scientific method... a very limited tool that, while useful in many fields, has also seen some of the most spectacular failures in scientific history when attached to medicine.

Anyway... as anyone can see, TCM usage is exploding the West, and will continue to do so because of the benefits. There are all sorts of MD's, PHD's, researchers, and just plain smart people practicing, researching, and trying to gain acceptance for things like Acupuncture because.... IT WORKS!! To think of Accupuncture as 'quackery' is really simply the all too often seen {in the West, astoundingly by supposedly scientific people} phenomena of breaking a rule from science 101.. lack of "scientific proof" does not a falshood make. You can go to any "Quack" website and see things labeled 'quackery' that have never even been studied with the scientific method!!! LOL!!

It should also be noted that one of the basis of Accupuncture is being bandied about elsewhere in science:

amazon.com

Much of Accupuncture appears to be based on foundations so profound that it will probably take a breakthrough in the unified field to fully understand the basis {not to say you can't still use it}. On a final note of 'East vs West'... I don't think of it that way... there are different mindsets, and strenths in both and I find it interesting that even some of the greatest Scientific minds {probably the ones who came in contact with Eastern philosphy and science} like Einstein and Bohr {who, when Knighted by Denmark Royals, chose the Yin and Yang symbol as part of his 'coat of arms'} were VERY interested.
