Ok so where did the 1990 japanese go to beat the coming deflation in housing? Some say buy gold, but I remember reading a report by a military officer about 1950's korea - the soldier wanted to go buy himself a prostitute and was short on korean dollars - so he thought hey - I will take my gold watch to the pawn store and get some money to buy the nookie. So he went to the pawn store and the pawn store guy showed him tons of gold forks, and coins, and watches and said he has no use for gold, but if the soldier would go back to base and bring cigarettes he would pay him handsomely for them. I cannot eat gold, but I can always drink a fine wine. If we have worldwide price deflation - can you eat gold or is a fine wine something you can make more use of?

Gold was not being accepted for payment anymore, but a woman's nookie and tobacco still had great value.
