I think a lot of people used way too many drugs in college and the years just after. I stopped smoking marijuana because I just sort of grew up. It is hard to work fulltime and party that hard. And I wanted to be totally healthy before I got pregnant. And any kind of drugs and parenthood are just totally incompatible in my opinion. Mr. Grainne and I have a fantasy that when we are truly old and living in an Irish cottage somewhere that we will obtain a bit of marijuana and bake it into brownies or something (I think smoking it is really bad for elder throats and lungs). Then we will drop back in and see how it feels to be stoned after decades of being straight. I am not sure whether it would actually be fun or not, though.
