Along the refinery line, this was in yesterday's Baton Rouge LA Morning Advocate : Investor plans to reopen Lake Charles refinery

Rusty facility being renovated

By The Associated Press

LAKE CHARLES -- A Texas investor is planning to reopen a shuttered gasoline and asphalt refinery in Lake Charles.

NuCoastal LLC, a company run by Oscar Wyatt Jr. of Houston, former head of the natural gas company Coastal Corp., purchased the Lake Charles refinery for $9 million in January with partner BayOil USA.

The refinery was owned by bankrupt American International Petroleum, a Houston company that for a time leased the facility to Gold Line Refining, another Houston-based firm.

The refinery, along the Calcasieu River, has been dormant for several years.

The renovated facility, to be called Pelican Refining, will produce high-quality gasoline and asphalt, the company has said.
