I'm one of the few Republicans that will say I think Clinton did a reasonable job. He made some mistakes but every president does. Some of his mistakes were seriously bad but I just know they weren't intentional. I give EVERY President the benefit of the doubt in believing they always look out for our best interests which is what I expect them to do - always! One thing that bothered me (and there were several) about Clinton was one of the things you said

He tried his best to avoid unpopular positions.

There are times when to be an effective leader you have to make unpopular decisions. He seemed to gauge the countries opinion first before deciding what was right. I think its fine to listen to opinion but at the end of the day, as president, you make the decision that your core values require you to make. If you don't we end up entangled in "feel good" politics and that just doesn't work.

It felt right to set men free from prison who had a mild (if there is such a thing) sexual offense in their background. Now we have the bodies of our molested children being found in woods. I use that as an example but there are others I could use as well.

Since I opened that can of worms I'd like to say that I don't think sexual offenders can be rehabilitated in high enough percentages to ever set them free. Least of all pedophiles.

We need to build a prison in the boonies of Alaska so that these people can never again be turned loose in society. If we have absolute scientific dna evidence thats where sexually offenders should be sent. They'd walk in but the only way out would be by pine box. No death penalty - just locked away from humanity for life
