OK....LETTERS, especially old ones....PICTURES, especially old ones.....SCRAPBOOKS.....You can start with those.

Tell her you will pay for them, or better yet, she sends you the items, you pay her for postage, you copy what you want...and send back everything. There are lots of clues on the old pictures, front and back, even if there is nothing else to identify them.
