Re-read my post. Democracy was on the move before Bush and before Reagan.

Reagan's speech was part of that move, for sure. "Mr. Gorbachev tear down that wall", was a great speech. It was part of the quiet revolution that swept through eastern Europe. Is Reagan responsible? No more than the Pope or Leck Walensa...and many others that carried the torch for democracy. No war was needed. What if Reagan said Gorby you have 30 days to tear down this wall or else...how would that have been met? It could have been ugly.

Bush's ultimatum to Saddam caused the record to skip and scratch a bit towards the center...but the movement goes on, with or with out Bush.
