What Mish was saying is that those who want and can afford a car already bought it. And that is true, but there are also a lot of young people still want cars, but many of them are less wealthy, so have to look for bargain. Furthermore, many people are still waiting for the car price in China bring down to the similar line as in the international market.

And one thing needs to pay attention. The data from China is not consistent with each other, nor consistent with international standard. Only 2 car makers give the retail numbers (Shanghai First Auto and Shanghai VW (Da Zhong)), the rest of car makers all give whole sale number. International standard usually use retail number only.

Due to the decreasing sale late last year, many car makers have not, and could not wholesale more cars, so the number for the first two months is low. Plus, one week holiday for the Chinese New Year in Feb., that would distort the number somewhat too.

March will be the high season for new model coming in, and inventory has been cleared, so for March the car sale should increased.
