Can you see that some of us don't view a feeding tube as an extraordinary item? That while recognizing she is severely disabled and will not recover - there is still dignity in life?

I can appreciate your point of view on this issue, but my beef is that congress had no business getting involved. They're just pandering to the fundies, IMO. This whole matter has been thoroughly adjudicated and resolved in the state court system.

I oppose involvement by the Feds, just as I strongly oppose the DOJ (instigated by Ashcroft and continuing now under Gonzales) fighting to overturn Oregon's Death with Dignity law and the medical marijuana laws that have passed in a number of states.

I am not religious, but do respect others choice to believe and worship as they choose. That being said, I do get upset when others, in the name of their religious beliefs, seek to curtail my rights to make medical decisions as I see fit.

Regards, JB
