Ron:

Thanks to a second term, I think Bush will be able to
cement his position as our worst president ever.

I was skeptical at first - I never thought he could
make a run at Harding, Grant, Reagan, etc. But the
last few months have convinced me: he has that special
quality, he has what it takes to be THE WORST.

But does Neo(con) truly believe that he is the one?
The last week should provide ample evidence.

The same guy who spent 54 days at his ranch prior to
9/11, vacationing like he was German (or dare I say,
French), can be called to Washington, DC for
especially urgent matters.

No, I'm not talking about a threat to our national
security - I'm talking about legislation that would
allow a federal court to intervene in the Terri
Schiavo case. When a severely brain damaged woman
needs to have a feeding tube restored, you know who
you can count on - George W. Bush. He'll be on the
next plane, you just have to give him a call.

It's because he cares about human life so much, you
know?

When it comes to federal controls on mercury emissions
from coal-fired power plants, Bush favors a system of
tradable pollution allowances that is quite well
received by his friends in industry.

It's because he cares about human life so much, you
know?

Or maybe New Jersey's attorney general, Peter Harvey,
and Department of Environmental Protection
Commissioner, Bradley M. Campbell, do not recognize
this? Silly, short-sighted New Jersey residents, as if
they know anything about pollution! A press release
from the two offices notes:

"The Bush EPA?s mercury rule lets coal-fired power
plants trade credits under a cap-and-trade system.
Cap-and-trade emission controls, while sometimes
appropriate for general air pollutants like sulfur
dioxide and carbon dioxide, are inappropriate for
hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) because they can allow
localized deposition of mercury to continue unabated,
perpetuating hotspots and hot regions that can
significantly impact the health of individual
communities."

Mercury has been linked to neurological disorders (I
should also note the release of a new study, finding a
strong correlation between higher mercury release
levels and the occurrence of autism)

In life, we're constantly faced with choices: protect
pregnant women and young children from mercury and
side with a bunch of fringist "leftists"? Protect your
pro-life political base by saving Terri Schiavo?

Ultimately, unborn children and people who have been
in a vegetative state for 15 years are much more
important than you or I, you must realize. From the
moment we're born until the moment we're put in a
coma, we're worth squat. But before we're born and
after we enter that coma, we are the most cared for
constituency of the Bush White House.

When the President says he wants to foster a "culture
of life," he just prefers to leave out concern for the
living. It's really quite simple.

My brain is starting to overload at this point, I
smell smoke ... there are so many other things I
wanted to address: Bush & the weakening dollar, Bush &
deficit-financed tax cuts, etc. I even wanted to talk
more about the price of oil. But I'm exhausted. The
President is exhausting. I thought it was impossible
for someone to make the wrong decision in almost every
situation, but he keeps surprising me. But you see, it
shouldn't surprise any of us: he is the one, Neo(con).

Nice summary. I also heard of the young black child who died when they cut his life support in Houston last week. His mother begged to keep his feeding tube intact............Bush didn't help her.

I cited that case tonight to a black priest at a religious dinner I attended. I silenced a group who were arguing to support Bush. I also told the group that I would return as a poltergeist if my husband kept me alive in a vegetative state for 15 years!!!!
