Are you sure it's your father? We'll have to look exactly when tin types were made, but I think they were from around 1850's to about the 1880's-1890's.... I've meant to do that as we have three or four of them.

One thing I've done with the tin types is take them to Kinko's and have them blow them up to a 8 1/2 x 11 size...Make sure you have them do a color picture, even if the picture appears to be black and tan....You'll be surprised at the detail you see in the picture!!!!
