" NO. As that article I gave a link for said, Mark Hulbert sold the QQQQs when Brinker didn't put them into his model portfolio in the next newsletter AFTER the special bulletin told subscribers to buy. I made a summary of ALL the newsletters Brinker wrote after that bulletin until he put the QQQQ on HOLD here suite101.com Clearly, Brinker was STRONGLY encouraging his subscribers to hold the QQQQs while they fell for a year. They went to a permanent HOLD in the low $40's and now the "advice" is often blended into his March 2003 buy."Thus, apparently two calls have given him a top 5 Hulbert risk-adjusted rating; I doubt he would have this rating if the QQQ call was calculated by Hulbert. Comments?" His rating would be lower if Hulbert had kept the QQQQs. How low it would drop, I don't know. I do know that he doesn't show on the total return Hulbert rankings Top5 for ALL Newsletters for 5,10,15 or 20 years. He does show on the risk adjusted list for ALL Newsletters for 10 and 15 years, but not 5 or 20. (He had very bad timing in the 1980's.... 100% long the 1987 bear and 100% out in 1988 so his 20 year numbers suffer.) He has 116 newsletters for the 5 yr number and 54 for the 15 year number! His ranking for the 33 Mutual Fund ONLY newsletters is #4 for 5 and 10 yrs and #3 when adjusted for risk. Hulbert ONLY ranks 5 and 10 years for mutual fund newsletters since the number is so small (I guess many don't make 15 and 20 years... ) I have suggested to Mark Hulbert via email that he make 4 new portfolios for Brinker that include the QQQQ advice to give an objective measure of how his actual subscribers would have done if they followed his WRITTEN instructions. I believe it helps for Hulbert to give Brinker a good rating because of Brinker's VERY large audience and CULT LIKE following is a great market for his product. I imagine the most faithful buy ANYTHING they can that puts Brinker in a favorable light to reaffirm their choice in cult leaders. Mark does have a footnote in the twice annual ranking issue that makes mention of this QQQQ trade, but it doesn't show on the monthly ratings. Even with the QQQQ counted, I am sure from what I've read about how poorly most do on their own, that Brinker has helped many. I just wish the records accurately reflected his true advice. Hope this helps Kirk
