I had to have an MIR recently....Did insist on an open tube

The "open tube MRI" is not ok for a brain MRI or MRA.

The open MRI machine has lots of excellent uses...but it has never been capable of providing sufficient detail inside the skull.

Coincidently, I had a brain MRI/MRA (my 4th) at 0800 this morning at Kootenai Hospital in Coeur'd'Alene. The purpose was to evaluate an old brain injury (the injury not the brain...:o))

and to make sure all three brain cells are still in sync. I brought my old MRI/MRA and brain arteriogram films from UCSF Medical Center and NC.

They called at 6pm tonight and said I can pick up the old films tomorrow. They refused to comment on the new film. Perhaps I will learn more tomorrow. otherwise it will be a wait. My Doc, a Neurologist, is out of town this week.

The good news is that the clerks told me all three brain cells appear to still be in Sync.

The bad news is they said my CRS will likely get worse as I age.

I don't follow FAGD anymore...but since Ken was in Nam when I was and he lives in Berkeley (very close to UCSF), I immediately gave him the names of my Docs at UCSF when I heard he had his stroke. UCSF is the premier research facility in the world for brain injuries and internal arterial dissections.
