FEATURED SPEAKERS

· Lietta and Arthur Ruger of Pacific N.W. Military Families Speak Out The Rugers, who live in Bay Center, Washington, have a son-in-law and nephew who are both currently serving in Iraq. The Rugers, active mem-bers in their church, will speak on the difficulties military families face as loved ones serve in Iraq on extended duty.

· J. David Kinzie, M.D., will speak on the psychological effects of massive trauma, such as war and torture, on refugees and Americans. Kinzie is a Professor of Psychiatry at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU); the director of the Torture Treatment Center of Oregon; and a psychiatrist with the Intercultural Psychiatric Program at OHSU.

· Local speakers at the conference will include Nick Biddle on the historical comparison between the Vietnam and Iraqi wars; Raymond Duray on the economic costs of war; and Unitarian Universalist Minister Jeanne Pupke and Quaker Cath Finney, who will address the spiritual costs of war.
