Woman resting after stem cell operation

The patient at the centre of a controversial foetal cell transplant in China says she is seeing continual improvements in her condition.

Willie Terpstra underwent the pioneering treatment, and she is eager to see the effects of her controversial treatment.

For six months Willie's been unable to swallow properly.

But the two million cells from aborted foetuses injected into her skull, may be working wonders.

Before the operation it was virtually impossible to understand what Willie was saying, but now her talking machine is turned off.

Dr Huang is the only person who will perform the procedure and people from all over the world are queuing to see him.

Huang emphaises that this is not a miracle cure.

Improvements in patients as a result of his treatment last anything from two weeks to two years.

After that he says most people lapse back to the condition they were in just before their operation.
