You and me both. It makes much more sense in terms of efficiency. I suppose it could seem a little cold, but making choices that ruin the lives of people from infancy to death is also cold- and that is what happens when we let poor children fall through the cracks (and it hurts society as a whole, as well, thus hurting us each individually).

I feel it is morally criminal that we don't allow heroin (the best and most effective palliative) to be used on the dying. The last thing I'd ever want is to suffer. Addiction is not a consideration in that last 6 months. If, perchance, there is a miracle, then, the addiction would be the least of someone's concerns.
