Elites deserve special privileges

Those who do not understand the motives of our enlightened elites might be tempted to accuse them of hypocrisy. However, we should all realize that our elite class only has our best interests at heart. In gratitude, we should be willing to allow them a few minor special privileges.
Here in Massachusetts, we should be especially thankful to Sen. and Mrs. John Kerry, who tirelessly work to protect the environment. We should all be willing to sacrifice in answering their call for conservation.
My diesel pickup has a fuel economy of about 18 miles per gallon. If instead of driving, I ride my bicycle for 108,000 miles, I can save 6,000 gallons of fuel. Thus, by giving up driving for only 10 years, I can save enough fuel to provide one fill up for the Kerry's private Gulfstream jet. If enough people agree to live in one-bedroom apartments or go without heat in the winter, they can save enough fuel to heat the Kerry's five mansions. Additional sacrifices should be made to propel the Kerry yacht.
Michael Moore's concern about the gun culture should not apply to his bodyguard, who was arrested for illegally carrying his gun in New York. Nor should it apply to gun control advocate Rosie O'Donnell, whose bodyguard requested permission to carry his gun on school grounds when picking up her children. After all, the lives of Rosie's children and Michael Moore are more important than the lives of commoners.
Although in most cases their children attend exclusive private schools, elites in Washington are right to oppose school vouchers for the average citizens of Washington, D.C. Only by denying them a quality education can the elites ensure that inner-city African-Americans continue to benefit from government welfare programs.
The wealthy elites, who typically shelter their income from taxes, understand that the government has better uses for our money than do common taxpayers. Rep. Patrick Kennedy was particularly effective in explaining his opposition to tax cuts at a Howard Dean fund-raiser in June 2003. Displaying his father Ted Kennedy's eloquence while drinking, Patrick stated, "I don't need Bush's tax cut. I have never worked a F---ing day in my life."
Although there was a bit of shock among the audience of volunteer campaign workers, Patrick Kennedy's fortune of birth is without a doubt a sound basis upon which to develop a tax policy for working Americans.
It is great news for those of us who are too stupid to invest our own money that Washington elites oppose personal retirement accounts like those that are available to members of Congress. Since we lack their wisdom, we could never be counted on to make the same wise decisions on our own.
From their gated communities, elite liberals should continue to stand up for the rights of convicted serial killers, drug kingpins and child molesters against the evils of the death penalty. Only the enlightened understand that it is the fault of society and not the criminal. Who are we to take the life of someone who was convicted of raping, torturing and killing children?
We should continue to allow our elite class to exempt itself from the rules that they create for the rest of us. Like the former Soviet Politburo, some men are more equal than others.
