Fine. Who isn't? But THAT'S not the point. The fact is the pouring more money into a bureaucracy usually doesn't make it MORE efficient; it makes it less so. More people get hired to dream up more paperwork and other ways of using the otherwise useful time of those who are actually producing the product.

Putting 10X as much money into education isn't going to give you students 10X as educated. You'll be lucky if your college grads can read.

I'm not the only one to see this and this is HARDLY the first time it has been pointed out. School funding increased ENORMOUSLY in the years following the initiation of Federal Aid to Education in the late 1950s. We sure have a lot smarter kids now, don't we?

AGAIN: Maybe money is no longer the determinant. Obviously you have to provide "adequate" funding for an educational system to operate. But past that, other factors that more money WON'T fix come into play- -such as parental involvement in the kids' education.

Or do we pay parents to see that their kids do their homework too? At what point IS the gov't no longer responsible for everything in society?

Remember the old saw about "The people support the gov't, not the gov't the people"? Where did that go? Shall we pay the parents for making brown bag lunches for their kids too? Or cooking them dinner? Where does all this money come from? Where does bribery of the citizenship stop? Or are we on the way to "bread and circuses"?
