China can indeed unpeg their currency and reduce the impact of the high cl price. However, with US in trouble and higher currency, China will lose it's biggest customer and their economy will go into toilet also. One of the reason China is trying to grow like crazy is the number of Chinese still in poverty. The coastal area is doing well but the inland area is still doing terrible economically. Social unrest will become a major issue if China cannot keep people employ. So I don't see anyone winning when CL become too high. The 64,000 question is what CL price is too high.
