We don't need more ability to overwhelm any opposition that stands against us. Is there a need for more soldiers to police and apply a higher level of control to the country? Yes, but they will be Iraqis. I agree with you it would have been beneficial to have more soldiers there at the begining (although I probably disagree as to the extent it would have helped), but at this point the best bet would be to add more Iraqis. The Americans aren't going to stay in Iraq at this force level for ever, we have to get the Iraqi government forces built up.
