Yes it was. His two brothers and father died from aortic aneurysms in their early 50s. My father was lucky and was beaned by an errant tee shot on the golf course which put him in the hospital where they discovered his in 1966. At that time only two doctors in the US were doing aortic replacements using dacron tubes and one was in Chicago where they took him. It lasted 17 years.

You might remember the summer of 1966 wasn't a good time to be in Chicago. When I drove up to visit him we could see the fires from the riots caused by the Democratic Convention from his room. It was also a little tricky driving the last couple of miles to the hospital. Back then I was a young dude and invincible.
