I found it interesting that the article failed to comment on the impact that Longhorn (replacement for XP) and the dual core processes will have on pc growth. It's my understanding that the Beta version of Longhorn will be out this year, and full release scheduled for 2006. Intel will release the dual core processors later this year. Of course, all this assume that schedules don't slip.

Since Longhorn will be a 64 bit platform, I believe this will represent a much greater upgrade over XP than XP had over Windows 98 and ME. Further, Longhorn will require a "clean installation". That is, you can't upgrade XP to install Longhorn, you'll have to format your hard drive and then install it, or just buy a new computer.
