It's savings that you can't get out. Well maybe YOU can, but not everyone, and most won't.

I don't mind either. It will be great for old school investors like me. The economy will probably survive just like it did during the S&L crisis and hopefully old fashion values and allocation of capital and labor to more productive uses comes as a result. Not too mention never again having to dodge all those nagging phone calls and mailings trying to get me to borrow or refinance. Whether this is just a serious recession or a depression might hinge on the strength of our banking system as things unwind.
