Here's what I think

If her husband wasn't a wife beater who was angling for her death (and she's been this way for 10 years) give the guy his insurance payout and let him go on with his life as if she died. Her parents obviously can't let go so let them take care of her at their expense. At this point I don't think he needs her dead - she already is. But for life insurance purposes he has no death certificate. She's dead and he's screwed. I love my wife but after 10 years ...I'm sorry...I'd have a spouse / girlfriend - whatever - and be trying to move on.

I don't mean to sound harsh but I doubt I'm alone in this thinking. Doesn't mean I'm right but if I'm going to hell for thinking like that I'll be in good company
