The question is not "someone" as if it was just anyone but rather; does God have the right to take a life that He has created? "Suppose the Hutu claimed God commanded they kill the Tutsi." Claiming something and actually receiving a direct command from God are two different matters. "Should we call this just because God can do with His creatures what He wishes?" Again; Claiming God told you to do something is not the same thing at all. Here's a question for you. What if one of those children were named Adolf, and God, knowing the things he would do decided to command his death; would that be evil? "why the double standard?" We can say it's wrong for you and I to play God, but it is not a double standard to acknowledge that it is perfectly fine for God. God gives life and he can take it away whenever He wants. "Scripture that makes God out to be a ruthless tyrant should be taken one way. It is as a spiritual lesson that we need to purge ourselves of all worldly corruption." Huhhh? I don't know of any scriptures that do that. God is always just in His dealings. Justice and Holiness are part of His essential nature and character, not some standard above or beyond Him. If he takes the life of a person who has not yet done anything wrong, then I don't see any compelling reason why that person would not be graciously accepted into Heaven. OTOH, if God chooses to end the life of a person who has done evil then He is perfectly just in judging that person according to their deeds. There is not one innocent person who will ever go to Hell! "Making claims that it is ok to kill defenseless women and children and keep the virgins as long as God commands it is ridiculous. Who are you trying to impress with this? Surely not anyone with the tiniest thread of morality." I chose not to answer a loaded question because it was given insincerely. You chose to and now it's blowing up in your face. You have just said that God has done evil. Why should anyone want to know your evil God? Have to run to play hockey tonight. I'll pick this up where I left off after the game.

"Evolution is the process by which God created all things. There is no contradiction." If you know what "evolution" means and you know what "God created" means, then there clearly is a contradiction. Evolution is defined as a random, purposeless, unguided, and strictly material process that excludes God. "What sense does it make to say that God used randomness? Design by chance is an oxymoron, a contradictory concept. This is not God using evolution, because "using" is teleological; it has a specific end result in view. It accomplishes something particular." str.org

All the atrocities in the bible, btw, were committed by God. Satan (the morning star) attended a dinner meeting about Job, and offered Jesus a position of CEO at one point. Satan does nothing evil in the bible. The ancient serpent myth was NOT Satan. Just a serpent that walked upright (we presume) until God cursed it to crawl on its belly! Of course...to read ancient myths and to believe that one or a collection of them is "TRUE" is to betray humanity. We have lost so many great people in order to escape the Dark Ages of religious power struggles for gold and wealth. And now it is 2005 and the greatest Nation in the world is being guided by astrology (Reagan) and hedonism (Clinton) and mysticism (Bush). Lovable bunch of goofs! And I mean no disrespect by that.
